Psalm 118:28-29-You are my God, and I will praise you!
You are my God, and I will exalt you!
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
It’s Thanksgiving week when everyone in the States gathers with family and friends to eat turkey and mashed potatoes and remember what they’re thankful for. When it comes to giving thanks, it should not be a muscle that we flex just once a year. What we do on Thanksgiving should be something we do every other day of the year as well. When we remember that we were sinners stuck in the mud, with no way out on our own; when we remember that we have done nothing to earn God’s love, that our good deeds are like dirty rags (Isaiah 64:6); when we remember that we don’t start at zero but below zero: it helps us to be thankful remembering that what God has done for us, we didn’t deserve in the first place.
1 John 4:10-10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
So, let's not wait until Thursday to start giving thanks to God. Let’s start today. Take two minutes right now and give thanks to God for what he has done for you. And then tomorrow, do it again. And the next day, again. You’ll most likely do it on Thursday, but keep it going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well. In fact, don’t stop!
Psalms 100:4-5- Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
