God’s BIG Plan

Pastor Rachael

When we look at the Bible as a whole, we can see that it can be broken down into four “Big” Ideas: Creation, Catastrophe, A Cradle and a Cross, and A Celebration and A Crown.

1.Creation

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

God created the world and everything in it, and He said that it was good. He ordered the earth so that it could become His dwelling place where He could live with His creation; however, that didn’t last very long.

2.Catastrophe

Genesis 3:6 "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was delightful to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.”

God had created a wonderful and perfect world for all of His creation, but then they sinned. It is hard to understand why Adam and Eve chose to sin when God had given them such a perfect and beautiful place to live, they did the one thing He told them not to do. And from then on, we would be waiting for someone to come and rescue us from those consequences of sin.

3.A Cradle and A Cross

Isaiah 53:2-6 “He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty of majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

What a great and perfect gift that God provided for us! He gave us His Son, both fully God and fully human, born of a virgin woman, to be the one to die in our place so that we could live eternally by His side.

4.A Celebration and A Crown

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever.”

What a glorious day that will be! Jesus will come again and make everything right!

With keeping that in mind church, I have four things for you to remember and ponder this week:

1.Remember that you are part of God’s glorious creation.

2.Every single one of us are sinners, but that does not mean that we are not worthy of God’s love.

3.God sacrificed so much for us, He sent a Rescuer so that we do not have to suffer the eternal consequences of sin.

4.He is coming back again! So, how will you share the Good News so that others can join in the celebration with us?
