Daniel

Pastor Joy

This devotional comes from my bible reading plan, "The Bible Recap" by Tara Leig Cobble, Day 259, Daniel 10-12

Daniel is being given visions, dreams, and prophecies all throughout the later portion of this book. Some are relatively understandable but others are confusing and even cause Daniel to be "sick and lose all his strength".

Chapter 12 brings Michael, the archangel, to give Daniel some explanations. We also get to see two other angels in Daniel's vision asking about the "shocking events" and how long they will last.

Daniel and Michael speak to each other in chapter 12, verses 8-10: "I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked, 'How will all this finally end, my lord?' But he said, 'Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means.'"

From this we learn that God reveals some information while withholding other information. Even the angels don't hold all the knowledge of God. But we also see that all knowledge, wisdom, and understanding is not necessary to be in a proper relationship with God. Scripture shows us we don't need all knowledge to have peace and hope. We need look no further than the cross and the empty tomb to see that Christ is our peace and our future.
